A little plant compare/contrast for this #whatshanginwednesday 🌱. I used to struggle with Philodendron hederaceum (not cordatum - see below!) vs Epipremnum aureum (classic Pothos, not to be confused with Scindapsus species which are also nicknamed pothos). Nowadays it couldn’t be more obvious to me. This side by side comparison of my neon Philo hederaceum and Pothos should help you see the clear differences (swipe -> for close ups). One of the most obvious things to me is how much thicker and stiff the leaves and stems on the Pothos are. Both are such incredibly easy, beautiful plants in my humble opinion 💖. Note: I edited this post to include the wise info from @stamenandstem in the comments below 🌱. Turns out Philo hederaceum is often mislabeled as cordatum. I included the link with lots more info in my profile. Love correcting taxonomy! Thanks @stamenandstem 👍#onwednesdaysweplantpink #philodendronhederaceum #epipremnumaureum #neonpothos
Happy Tilly Tuesday!💀🌱 Some of you may recall I had a Black Knight Echeveria in the skull planter. It did not survive I think due to a combination of mealies and not enough light. The rest of my indoor succulents are right in windowsills and do pretty well. It also had artificial drainage (no hole at the bottom just charcoal/pumice/moss). I’m doing less and less of that these days since ultimately those little succulents won’t thrive even though they can be really cute at first. But the small planters without drainage are perfect for air plants I think! Sometimes I also put tiny nursery pots in them so I can remove to water. Or if you’re brave go ahead and (carefully) drill some holes! 💪 #tillandsia #tillandsiatuesday #alocasiaamazonica #hoyakerrii #atomicranch
Swapped the pot and hanger for the Rhipsalis paradoxica in my daughter’s room and I’m liking the gray/white/green combo! Neutrals always make green pop.🌵Also shown is my little baby Monstera deliciosa I got for $4 last year. If you’re patient you don’t need to spend a lot on plants! 🌱You could even get one for free by winning the Sansevieria masoniana “whale fin” in this photo (see my last post for details 👀). Last but not least I want to wish @mapiful a happy birthday. I appreciate them sending me this lovely vintage style map I made of St. Augustine using their interactive map making site. A beautiful reminder of my husband’s roots. It will be great to get back there this summer! #mapifulbirthday #monsteramonday #rhipsalisparadoxa #sansevieriamasoniana #staugustinefl
G*I*V*E*A*W*A*Y time as promised! In honor of Earth Day, Sansevieria Sunday and all of you wonderful people, I am giving away one of my large Sanseveria masonianas, AKA Whale Fin Sansevierias, pictured here🌱. I have too many since I divided one, and I love to spread plant love especially since I know these can be hard to come by!. . . Rules: follow @workhardplanthard. Tag up to 3 (max please😉) friends in the comments below. Each tag is an entry. US only please. If only customs and timing wasn't an issue I'd include you amazing international people. Giveaway ends next Sunday, April 29, 2018. That should give me enough time to figure out how to mail this thing! 😬 . . PS If anyone has any idea of the best way to mail this beast I'm all ears.👂 . Giveaway is not affiliated with Instagram. #giveaway #sansevieriamasoniana #sansevieriasunday
Happy Earth Day, from my #plantshelfie to yours. I hope you are able to appreciate some natural beauty today.✌🏼🌏 #plantshelfiesunday #shelfiesunday (some sources tagged)
So I completely misread #springintoplants for today as “textiles” instead of “textures” 🤷🏼‍♀️. That’s okay, I’m going with it! What do you think, socks 🧦 (swipe ->) or no socks?🌵😜Had to get creative with my angle to include our Pendleton pillow (reminds me of our Portland days), the black macrame hanger I made last year and our furry sheepskin chair cover. . Also, I’m not one to focus on numbers 👀 , but it seems a thank you giveaway is in order because you all are awesome. Stay tuned for an announcement tomorrow. Happy Saturday! 💃🏼
Some of you saw in my stories that I divided Molly last weekend (my Philodendron Pink Princess, aka Philodendron erubescens, aka Pretty in Pink 😉💖). She was quite big and as I started to repot her she separated easily in to four plants. Swipe to see all four (2) and the original plant (3). Before you ask since I know these can be hard to come by - yes, I will be giving 3 away but they are all spoken for semi-locally. I am not a seller but do occasionally swap or give away. Speaking from experience these would be a *huge* pain in the butt to mail. 🤷🏼‍♀️#philodendronfriday #philodendronerubescens #foliagefriday #plantshelfie
Almost missed #trailingthingsthursday 😱. Also works for #springintoplants “big and small.” I have 2 string of hearts. The long one in the foreground that is tough to get in one pic due to its length (it’s close to touching the floor now - maybe time for a trim! ✂️), and the small one in the background that actually also has smaller hearts (different variety). #ceropegiawoodii #stringofhearts
I don't normally post business's own photos for my #plantyplaces #thankfulthursday feature, but rules were made to be broken right? Seriously I am so excited to share this amazing vintage trailer mobile plant shop by @tillplantcompany. Two of my favorite things - just add a bike and I'm all set! Swipe -> for interior. Popping up in the Orlando area of Florida. I can't wait to (hopefully🤞🏼) visit when we're in Florida visiting my husband's family this summer! Don't forget to tag your photos of plant shops, nurseries, botanical gardens, conservatories and other public plant-filled spaces with #plantyplaces for your chance to be featured! 🌿📷 @tillplantcompany Till is listed on my Plant Travels blog page, link in profile.
